about me

Born into a obnoxiously proud Shanghainese household in northwest Philadelphia, Steven Gu is a twenty-five year old aspiring urban planner. Beyond the built environment, he is as equally interested in all the tea combinations at 50嵐, shiba inus, and learning local slang in each country he visits.

Over the last few years, Steven’s primary research has been on active mobility, community-based planning, and governance, with a focus on Southeast Asian and North American Cities. Currently, he is conducting freelance research and learning Mandarin in Taipei, Taiwan.

Steven recently completed his US Fulbright Urban Planning & Sustainable Design Fellowship in Singapore at the Centre for Liveable Cities in the Ministry of National Development. Before that, he was part of the Advisory Services team at the Urban Land Institute, working with public and private sector members to solve urban issues across the US and abroad. Previously, he has studied and researched in Copenhagen and London as well.
